About Vote AK

Welcome to Vote AK: Your Source for Voting, Elections, and Government Information in Alaska

Vote AK was born of a recognition that every Alaskan deserves access to clear and reliable information about how to vote and what rules apply. A coalition of lawyers, policy professionals and lifelong Alaskans assembled Vote AK with the aim of creating one robust, easy-to-use guide available to educate all who live and work in the unique and fascinating electoral system in Alaska. Vote AK is committed to helping each first-time voter and community activist in the Last Frontier be prepared to participate fully in every election.

Mission: Empowering Alaskans

Vote AK’s work is built on a foundation of civic empowerment: voting is a right as well as a responsibility, and we seek to ensure that every eligible Alaskan has the information he or she needs to vote. We provide current, nonpartisan information about voting law, election information and legal rights to help Alaska build an informed and engaged electorate capable of making their voices heard. Our mission is to demystify the ballot, ease entry into the political process, and help sustain a vibrant democracy in Alaska through education and engagement.

About Us: Who We Are

Vote AK was born out of a coalition of attorneys, public policy experts, and community educators who are passionate about promoting civic engagement in Alaska. Our staff members have decades of experience working on the ground on legal and legislative advocacy and election education in Alaska and around the country. Our native language law attorneys, indigenous advocates, rural outreach specialists, election law experts, and civic engagement veterans know the issues Alaskans face and are dedicated to making sure electoral outreach is successful in every part of our state. All of the articles and publications you see on this website are researched and compiled by in-house staff to ensure that the information being read by citizens is accurate and useful.
